Job Role
We are looking for a Lead Video Editor to join our team.

You will edit dynamic, engaging short factual films for students, develop and design new formats and approaches to our films, and continually evaluate and update workflows and processes.

You will inspire and lead an established team of Editors and Junior Editors, helping them to do their very best work, and maintaining the positive, energetic and creatively rewarding environment we have cultivated.


Key tasks and responsibilities include:


  • Editing short films in Adobe Premiere to a high creative and technical standard reflecting the quality, accuracy and engagement aims of Twig
  • Work alone, and with the Lead Motion Graphic Designer, to produce motion graphics and graphic representations of STEM concepts and processes in After Effects
  • Work with the Lead Motion Graphic Designer and Lead Editor, to develop and produce project style guides
  • Line management of Editors and Junior Editors (incl. ongoing performance reviews, onetoones, mentoring, holiday scheduling etc)
  • Sharing experience, knowledge and encouraging the edit team to develop their edit and graphic skills through daytoday support and training sessions
  • Working with the Production Manager to help monitor production schedules raising risks to quality, schedule or budget
  • Understanding, adhering to, and disseminating technical standards and bestpractice requirements

About you

  • At least 5 years professional experience editing children's, factual, and/or online content
  • Extensive Adobe Premiere and After Effects skills are essential we do not use Avid or Final Cut Pro
  • An understanding of how to be direct and efficient in storytelling. The ability to recognise essential information, identify clear narrative paths and translate complex ideas into engaging films is critical
  • You must be motivated and enthusiastic, with an eye for detail and consistency
  • Ability to work with high volumes of material effectively to deadlines
  • Excellent organisational skills managing multiple films at a time, maintaining and archiving sensible and clearly set out projects
  • Understanding of the importance of process and workflows, to maintain an efficient flow of films from edit to completion

Desirable skills

  • Line management experience setting objectives, appraising team members. An ability to mentor and guide edit staff
  • An ability to create an atmosphere of cooperation and communication
  • The ability to lead editor meetings, keeping all team members updated on production progress
  • Scheduling experience or having worked with with a Production Manager or Post Production Manager to schedule post production effectively
  • Experience using Cinema 4D
