Description

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust for a Senior Healthcare Assistant to be a part of the new Luisa Martindale Building - B6 Clinic /ward.

We are looking for a highly motivated HCA who would like to progress in their career.


The B6 ward is currently housing several specialist Clinics, The Covid Medicine Delivery unit ( CMDU), Rapid Access Infectious Diseases (RAID), Infectious Diseases clinic and the TB clinic.

The clinics are attached to the Infectious Diseases ward that has got a total of 24 siderooms in which 8 of those are negative pressure enabled.


You will have the opportunity to develop in your clinical skills and develop administrative skills as this role will focus mainly on the clinic with the chance of working in the ward as warranted.

You will also work with an infectious Diseases Team of medical staff, Respiratory consultants and TB nurses specialist.


Clinic experience not necessary as you will be provided with training but it is essential that the applicant is competent in venepuncture.


The post holder will work as part of LM- B6 Ward team to deliver safe and effective care to patients but their main role is to attend and assist in the clinic.

Greeting patients when they arrive

Checking patients in and updating their personal information in the clinic's records

Answering phone calls and handling general inquiries.

Assist Doctors and Nurse Specialists in attending to the patient needs in the RAID / TB/ CMDU clinic.

Taking observation, perform venepuncture and cannulation.

Maintaining a clean and organised clinic environment.


The senior HCA will have to help and work in the ward area, in the event where there are no booked patients in the clinic.
