Job Summary


We're hiring for a Health and Safety Co-ordinator:

In this new opportunity as Enterprise and Retail Health and Safety Co-ordinator for learning disability charity Brandon Trust; you'll be responsible for overseeing the safety of our staff and the people we support that attend our enterprises and charity shops.

You will ensure we are compliant in meeting all of our organisational health & safety and fire safety standards.


This is a varied role where you'll work across Bristol, South Glos and North Somerset supporting and advising our portfolio of enterprises and shop, these include a Care Farm, Woodwork and Gardening enterprises, cafes, potteries, a Farm Shop and 5 Charity Shops.


You will:

Have good communication skills and the ability to motivate people as well as a 'can do' attitude.

Have good organisational skills

The ability to work to clear deadlines and to manage a varied and specialist workload are essential.


You'll have experience of working in either health or social care and of active involvement in monitoring and auditing Health & Safety systems in the workplace.

A H&S qualification (NEBOSH General Certificate )


Have Maths and English qualifications at Level 2 (or equivalent) or be able to demonstrate competence at this level through assessment.

Have a full driving licence and be prepared to travel, which may involve working some unsocial hours.

Your responsibilities:


You'll be working at home for part of the week and within our Enterprises in Bristol, South Glos and North Somerset for the rest of the week.

You'll support the Enterprise Managers and Coordinators to plan, implement, monitor and review the protective and preventative measures that the Enterprise and Retail Staff require to ensure health & safety compliance.


Working with the Health And Safety Manager and Enterprise and Retail Managers, you'll ensure appropriate risk assessments are in place across the enterprise and retail projects.

You'll be instrumental in development of disaster and contingency planning across these enterprise and retail projects.

You'll carry out regular inspections and audits (spot checks) across the enterprise/retail sites to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.

You'll liaise and co-ordinate closely with the Brandon H&S team and participate in the H&S Committee.

You'll provide support and guidance with issues around planning and legislation that affects the enterprise/retail sites.

Brandon exists to enable children, young people and adults with a learning disability, autism, or both, to live life in the way they choose.

We provide high-quality, individualised support to around 1,600 people and have a staff team of over 2,000.

Operating across southern England and London, support is provided by a widely dispersed workforce, including public spaces and the homes of the people we support.
