Description
There are many types of PE firm operating out of London.

A small number of Large Cap mostly US firms, Mid Market funds, many based out of London but operating internationally.

And there are much smaller outfits where HR is primitive or sometimes don't haveany HR at all.

Some are genuinely terrible to work for. Maybe because the work life balance isn't there, or because HR is a support function and not valued. Or maybe the HR D is the sort who should never be in HR in the first place. (We've all met them).

This firm is good for a number of reasons.

It has offices globally but it's not an institution where left hand doesn't talk to right or "things can't be approved until Chicago wakes up.

"

The HR function is valued. The business isn't obsessed with the bottom line therefore letting the employees suffer. This particular HR BP role is focused on DE&I.

And while being an HR Generalist with experience in Alternative Investments is important, muchof this role will be ensuring the Fund is as progressive as possible.

Lastly, and possibly most importantly, the HR D is exceptional.

Still junior enough that he/she hasn't forgotten what its like to be hands on, yet experienced enough to have strategic influence.

Knows exactly what she/he is looking for but is open to bepersuaded if the argument is well thought out.

In short, this PE firm is good. The role is excellent. The financial reward is top percentile and all in all, the opportunity to advance your career is here.

The Role

  • HR Generalist / HR Business Partner. If I have to explain this then don't apply. More detail will be in the JD.
  • DE&I.
  • Wellbeing
  • 6 years or more of advancing HR experience ideally with long tenures in the companies that you have worked in.
  • 3 years or more of UK HR Manager or HR BP experience in your most recent role which should be in a relevant sector in a firm with a good reputation.
  • Must have a passion for DE&I and Wellbeing.
  • Good academics are an advantage.
  • An ability to commute into the London Office 4 days a week and wfh for the 5th.
In general, my clients like 3 things.

  • Sector Experience. (PE first, Other Alternatives second, Other FS, Finttech or Tech third, other sectors not at all)
  • Long Tenure. They don't like job hoppers.
  • Good academics. This is least important. If you have points 1 and 2, you should be ok. Strong academics don't make up for not having 1 or 2.
