Job summary:

Broadband, Regulation and Investment Team

Our role is to create and deliver broadband policy for the UK government, across all types of fixed broadband networks.

Our current projects include ensuring the delivery of our £5bn investment in gigabit-capable networks meets our policy objectives, tracking and supporting commercial rollout by industry by removing barriers to deployment, facilitating the transition to fully digital networks and monitoring and designing interventions using novel technologies to reach the most challenging locations in the UK.

We work extensively with other government departments including HM Treasury and Defra; Ofcom; the Devolved Administrations; and industry stakeholders to achieve this.

Job description:

You will become part of the Broadband Regulation and Investment Team (BRIT).

As part of the Strategy and Regulation team, you will help to transform the lives of UK citizens by creating the right regulatory environment to deliver nationwide gigabit connectivity, one of the PM's top priorities.

You will also play a leading role in the once-in-a-generation retirement of analogue telephone networks; a crucial task which can radically improve connectivity in the UK, but which needs managing with care and diligence.

You will work closely with Ofcom and stakeholders across Whitehall and industry to ensure the UK has a thriving, secure, and competitive telecoms ecosystem, whilst also protecting the needs of consumers.
