Opportunity Overview:


Columbia Threadneedle Investments is a leading global asset management group that provides a broad range of actively managed investment strategies and solutions for individual, institutional and corporate clients around the world.


The Role:
To assist in developing new processes, reconciliations and supporting documentation following the move to a new ledger accounting system.

These cover a range of GAAPs (FRS102, IFRS, US and European) and are looking at monthly and quarterly reporting requirementsincluding Sarbanes Oxley requirements.

To support the calculation of disclosures for year end accounts for the Financial year ended, using data gathered from the old ledger accounting system.


Requirements:


The development of processes that will form the the basis of ongoing excel reconciliations of key account balances with the Expense Accounting team using data recorded in the Workday Accounting ledger.


This is a ledger accounting system that is new to the department, although widely used in the rest of the Group.

These include reconciling balances for a number of requirements, for instance:

  • Being able to analyse Lease Liabilities out to individual leases and from there reconcile the balances back to the projected balance each period or
  • Developing the most efficient way to import outside accounting packs to Workday in a tight deadline; or
  • Taking existing reconciliations used in the outgoing SUN ledger and reconfiguring these to work with Workday outputs.


The above includes assisting in correcting any identified differences and developing procedures to ensure that the reconciliations and processes can be carried out by other team members.


Preparations of disclosures required for Group and subsidiary accounts using data held in the outgoing SUN Accounting ledger, working with the Statutory Reporting team as required.

Supporting the team by carrying out monthly accrual calculations, gathering the information required and booking journal entries.


If capacity allows, developing knowledge of the Group invoice processing system and from there supporting the business in using this to it's full capacity, including developing job aids if required.


Desirables Skills:

  • AAT or part qualified accountant, with 35 years of experience
  • Knowledge of SUN / Workday accounting software desirable.
  • A solid knowledge of accounting fundamentals, particularly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Proficient and experienced intermediate/advanced excel coupled with good knowledge of accounting systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
