We are seeking to appoint a Scientific Officer with an interest in Microbiology and a desire to teach.

The post holder will assist the Principal Scientific Officer and Head of Teaching and Diagnostic Unit with the provision of practical classes within the School's MSc and short course programmes.


The post holder will assist the Principal Scientific Officer (Microbiology) with the day-to-day provision of practical Microbiology teaching within the Faculty.

The post holder will act as a technical demonstrator in Microbiology practical classes including MSc Core Bacteriology, Core Virology, Clinical Bacteriology 1 and 2, Mycology and Antimicrobial Chemotherapy practicals and appropriate Control of Infectious Disease demonstrations.


The post holder will be responsible for maintaining viral, bacterial and fungal culture collections for teaching purposes, general housekeeping of the teaching laboratory, stock control and ordering of laboratory consumables and assist in the preparation of teaching specimens, media, reagents and biochemical tests for practical classes.
