This role will provide an integral resource to our key teams within the business.

Supporting the Clinical and Customer Support Team, you will provide day to day support to the Duty Clinical Scientist to ensure our clinical interpretation services run smoothly to deliver high quality genomic reports.

Alongside supporting the Finance and Quality Teams, with ad hoc support for the Office Manager/Executive Assistant as and when required.


What you'll be doing

Clinical Team support - 50%

  • Logging in of samples into the lab database
  • Activating sequencing with our sequencing provider, monitoring data delivery from the sequencing provider
  • Creation of supporting files for sample processing
  • Creating and managing virtual gene panels to support analysis
  • Managing the duty mailbox, triage of customer communications and handling of nonclinical queries
  • Chairing weekly operational meetings, drafting the agenda, recording minutes
  • Collating KPIs to report at monthly quality meetings

Finance Team support - 25%

  • Supplier administration support on the supplier onboarding, purchase order matching and cash payments
  • Work with the finance manager to answer customer queries and perform debtor management
  • Reconcile supplier accounts, such as Amex & Barclaycard, and chase missing documents

_ Quality/Office support 25%_

  • Ad hoc administrative duties

Skills

A detail-orientated individual with a passion for genetics who wishes to use their skills to improve the lives of patients with rare genetic disease.

  • Willingness to learn and an interest in healthcare science
  • Confident using a range of software packages for data entry (e.g Outlook, Excel, Sharepoint*, Word, Confluence*) *training will be provided
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Abide by GDPR and handle patient data securely and confidentially
  • Desirable but this can be taught: Basic knowledge of rare disease and associated genetic concepts, such as next generation sequencing, bioinformatics, laboratory quality requirements and reasons for genetic testing.

What skills, experience and qualification do you need to succeed in this role?

  • Maths and English language GCSE or equivalent (C grade equivalent or above)
  • Confident using a range of software packages for data entry
  • Effective communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
