Description
We are looking for somebody to take over the weekly testing of decontamination equipment. Based across Gloucester Royal Hospital and Cheltenham General Hospital. Working closely with CSSD to maintain a good relationship. The role can be physically demanding at times with water softener monitoring and filling with salt tablets.

There is potential for further training and education in the role and within the GMS estates team. Working in a growing industry of decontamination.


Main duties include:


  • Weekly periodic testing of Washer Disinfectors within CSSD to HTM 0101 guidance.
  • Weekly periodic testing of Porous Load Sterilisers within CSSD to HTM 0101 guidance.
  • Monitoring and Maintaining Water Softeners and Reverse Osmosis Plant to HTM 0104 Guidance.
  • Reporting Faults to either Line Manager or Department Manager.
  • Time management and Scheduling of testing to work around Department Availability.

Additional duties (cover) include:


  • Water Sampling for Endoscope Washers to HTM 0101 and 0104 guidance.
  • Weekly testing for Laboratory Sterilisers to HTM 0101 guidance.
  • Monitoring and maintaining Water softeners and RO Plant in CGH.
Gloucestershire Manages Services (GMS)are a subsidiary company of the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (GHFT). GMS employ in excess of 800 staff and is the contractor of choice for GHFT. GMS provide Estates and Facilities Services across all GHFT properties.


KEY RESULT AREAS

  • Statutory requirements and principles and practices of servicing and maintaining decontamination equipment with the skills to diagnose and repair simple faults on equipment.
  • Obtain an understanding of electrical systems in connection with decontamination
  • To efficiently and effectively organise resources including labour, materials and transportation.
  • To liaise with managers and department heads to arrange access where necessary.
  • To ensure good standards of workmanship, ensure all records are maintained and observe the Trust's procedure for Quality Control.
  • To observe statutory and other relevant requirements, in particular those relating to Health and Safety.

  • Supervise other trade staff as appropriate.
  • Carry out routine duties and provide a reactive and preventative maintenance service as directed.
  • To monitor planned preventative maintenance schedules.
  • To be based at Gloucester Royal Hospital but working at other Trust properties as necessary.
  • To carry a bleep, radio hand set or mobile phone/PDA as required.
