Job Responsibilities/Objectives


Senior AS/400 System Engineer with deep iSeries technical expertise responsible for setting up and implementing new Power System (P9) hardware running IBMi OS and migrating existing iSeries workloads to the same.

Robust knowledge of migrations processes and expertise having handled such workload in a large Banking domain would be a key advantage and differentiator


Understand the client's overall IT architecture and AS/400 environment and help migrate the old on-premises hardware to newer Power10 systems.

IBM Power Hardware upgrade
Banking experience preferred
Power VM virtualization experience
Migration Experience
Experience in MIMIX and BRMS a bonus.

Working in Account Delivery, would lead the design, would be entrenched within the Kyndryl team working cohesively in planning out and implementation of the migrations from older hardware to P10 systems.

IBM and other ISV software installation and maintenance
Manage and secure network connectivity and communications related to the IBMi platform.

Establish and adhere to IT industry best and client best practices and standards as it relates to Architecting/ Designing client's Power/Cloud systems for Power Systems running IBMi.

Consult with end users, leadership, vendors, and technicians to assess IBMi system requirements.

Required Skills/Experience

A proven track record of experience in iSeries (IBMi) System Administration and support; Expertise in hands on iSeries hardware migrations would be an added advantage

Engineering Degree with a proven track record in IT AS/400 System Engineering and Administration experience implementing new Power System (P9) hardware with IBMi OS and migrating existing iSeries workloads to the same.

Robust knowledge of migrations processes and expertise having handled such workload in a large Banking domain
Support in a high demand-based, service-oriented environment (environments with 20 LPARs) ensuring system availability of 99.99%.

Sound hands on experience in working on iSeries environments as a System Administrator with experience in LPAR Administration, System Capacity & Performance tuning, OS & other third-party Software installation, upgrade, and maintenance.

Experience in architecting Hardware system & OS upgrades is key.
Good hands on exposure to PowerVM and VIOS
Experience working on PowerHA and MIMIX software are essential.
Should possess the knowledge and ability to do fail-over testing (including journal analysis) from Production to HA/DR system environment.
Sound experience in Backup/Recovery using BRMS.
Average CL scripting skills is a requirement.
Good and effective written and oral communication
Good understanding of ITIL modules like Incident, Asset, Problem and Change Management.

Desirable Skills/Experience

IBM certification on IBMi/iSeries System Administration
