The Post - Pastoral Support Officer

The person:


Hours
8.00 am pm Monday to Friday, Term Time Only.


The role


This is a rewarding role, acting as the main contact for students during the school day, supporting them with every day administrative issues such as lost property and signing in/out of school, and, more importantly, acting as first aider for both medical and SEMH needs.

This is not a counselling role but 'triage', ensuring that appropriate support is secured where needs cannot be immediately met.


You will work closely with two very supportive and collegiate teams: the wider admin team and with pastoral teaching team, led by the DSL.


Overall Responsibilities

  • To contribute to the safeguarding and wellbeing culture of the school.
  • To support students in meeting the School's high expectations, both in and out of the classroom.
  • To support the Deputy Head Pastoral, Assistant Head Pastoral and Heads of Year to achieve highquality pastoral care of students, enabling students to achieve the highest standards of learning, ensuring that students are successful, confident and happy.
  • To triage pastoral concerns under the guidance of the Deputy Head Pastoral and Assistant Head Pastoral.
  • To refer cases to DSL, DDSL, Heads of Year or Form Tutors as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implementing school expectations with regard to uniform, break and lunchtime behaviour in and around the school;
  • Supporting the school ethos of positive noticing and constructive correction;
  • Maintaining an effective presence around school;
  • Completing a first aid at work training course and mental health first aid course;
  • Administering first aid/mental health first aid as and when required;
  • Record and update data on iSams as required;
  • Monitoring of concerns, to identify trends or students of concern, and acting effectively in supporting these issues;
  • Liaising with the Heads of Year to monitor and support students of concern
  • Contacting parents as required
  • Dealing with attendance matters and lateness
  • Perform additional duties and tasks required for the effective operation of the school as directed by line manager and the Leadership Team
  • Attend meetings with pastoral and admin teams as required.
Salary will be competitive and dependent on experience.

£22,000.00-£26,000.00 per year
