AGCCE currently has a vacancy for an Outside Operator on our ETFE plant.

The incumbent will assist the Senior Control Gallery Operator through the control of the polymerisation section of ETFE plant (including some utility sections), using appropriate skills and knowledge so that SHE, production & quality performance is maintained.

They will also be responsible for controlling output and efficiency, ensuring raw material usage and equipment availability is maximised.


Primary Responsibilities:


  • Ensure that all operations under their control on the ETFE plant meet the company SHE requirements.
  • Operate the ETFE plant by using the computer control system.
  • Prepare systems and equipment for maintenance and return to service in a correct and safe manner.
  • Undertake maintenance jobs in the ETFE polymerisation area with maintenance technicians etc.
  • Carry out all relevant safety and service checks on the plant gas, fire alarm, deluge and emergency generator systems to fulfil operating requirements.
  • Take full control and responsibility for offloading ethylene tankers.
  • Complete written/electronic logs and records of filling operations, etc.
  • Permit to work issuer.

Personal Qualities:


  • Practical SHE knowledge in the hazards of TFE and Ethylene and other hazardous substances.
  • Ability to understand complex chemical processes.
  • Must remain calm, logical, and rational in emergency situations.
  • Able to react responsibly to rapidly changing circumstances.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Responsible and committed attitude.

Qualifications and Experience:


  • NVQ level 3 in Process Operations.
  • Practical SHE knowledge in the hazards of TFE and Ethylene and other hazardous substances.
  • Previous experience of a process role gained within a hazardous chemical environment.
  • Experience of working with or operation of a computer controlled hazardous manufacturing process would be desirable.
  • Experience and ability to take corrective action to address production, quality and SHE issues.
