Working within the Research and Development Directorate we are looking to appoint an experienced researcher, whose expertise are situated within the field of suicide prevention to take the lead in a new role within the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust as a National Ambulance Suicide Register Lead.


The SRL will use expert knowledge to critically develop important national reporting guidelines on suspected suicides within all NHS Ambulance Services.

This SRL will then develop and gain stakeholder approvals to gather the reported data and establish a registry of suicide
deaths amongst NHS ambulance staff across the United Kingdom.

It is the responsibility of each member of staff to ensure that they maintain the confidentiality and security of all information in accordance with the requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Data Protection Act 2018, the common law duty of
confidentiality and, for the protection of patient confidentiality, the principles of Caldicott.

Managers should also ensure that their staff are aware of their obligations under legislation such as the Freedom of Information Act 2000; Computer Misuse Act 1990, and that staff are updated with any changes or additions relevant to legislation.

Staff must be aware of and adhere to the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act and to ensure their own safety and the safety of colleagues and patients.
