Hybrid Structures specialize in timber and mixed material solutions so there will be a large verity of product knowledge in terms of steel, decking, Glulam, CLT LVL timber cassettes and the impact that these materials have on each other - on the job trainingwill be given on all these products.

What's the role all about?

Coordinating and managing all the design work within the Hybrids Structures office motivating and encouraging internal and external design teams (sub-contractors) to ensure the structural drawings and designs are produced on time, to a high quality, andare easy to interpret, manufacture and build.

As our
Design Manager with
Hybrid Structures you will be:

Design

Reading and interpreting 3D models for the purpose of getting design information from the model.
Creating and utilising a variety of excel spreadsheets and models to enable successful design of projects
Attend a range of meetings including pre and post tender meetings with clients, engineers, projects managers etc. to discuss tenders throughout the bid process, keeping detailed records of discussions and responding to all actions as required.
Supporting the building of people's knowledge of Hybrid Structures and our product within the business so that we can maximise our commercial opportunities and innovation.

Management

As the leader of the design team you shall motivate and manager all team members in a fair and respectful manner taking responsibility for all aspects of early careers, talent management, training and development as well as addressing any performance requirements
Continuously monitoring design practices to ensure they meet the needs of the business.
Liaising cross functionally across the William Hare Group, assisting and advising others on projects that require hybrid structure designs.
Continuously maintain and update the design manual that is used by all parties to design Hybrid structures projects.
Identifying project risks, working collectively with others to identify and implement workable solutions to mitigate these risks.
Actively involved in presenting Hybrid Structure solutions to colleagues within the William Hare Group and externally with our Commercial team to customers and clients.

What are we looking for?

Educated to MEng or MSc in structural engineering or equivalent with relevant experience in structural frame and connection design, working at a reasonably senior level and managing teams in a subcontractor construction environment.
Computer literate with a good knowledge of design software CAD and MS word and MS Excel.
MICE or MIstructE membership is preferred but not essential.
Passionate about design management and keen to continue to build experience in this field
Resilient and can demonstrate a willingness to evaluate new challenges.
Works well using their own initiative, pays attention to detail and is a proactive problem solver
Engaging communicator and presenter presentation, able to positively influence others and build relationships
Enthusiastic Team member of Hybrid Structures who will positively contribute to the continued development of the wider business.
