Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner (ODP):

Are you an experienced and skilled Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner looking for a temporary opportunity to showcase your expertise? Spire Healthcare Ltd is currently seeking a Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner (ODP) to join our team at Spire Bushey Hospital in Bushey, Hertfordshire.

As a Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner, you will be an integral part of our operating theatre team, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of patient care during major orthopaedic procedures.


Your role as a Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner will involve preparing the operating theatre and equipment, providing assistance to the surgical team, and maintaining a sterile environment throughout the procedure.

You will work closely with surgeons, anaesthetists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth running of each operation.


Key responsibilities:

  • Preparing the operating theatre and equipment for major orthopaedic procedures
  • Assisting the surgical team during procedures, passing instruments and supplies as required
  • Ensuring the maintenance of a sterile environment throughout the operation
  • Monitoring and managing the supply of surgical equipment and consumables
  • Providing emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families during the preoperative and postoperative phases
  • Adhering to all infection prevention and control policies and procedures
  • Participating in the oncall rota, as required
To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A recognised qualification as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)
  • Experience working in a similar role, preferably with a focus on major orthopaedic procedures
  • A high level of technical knowledge and competence in orthopaedic surgical procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • An understanding of the importance of patient safety and the ability to follow established protocols and guidelines
  • The ability to remain calm and focused in highpressure situations
Working hours for this temporary role are from 07:30:00 to 18:00:00, and the payment rate is £374.85 per shift. The start date for this position is 25/01/2024, with an end date of 25/01/2024.
