The Role:


Merrick & Co UK is currently recruiting for an Associate Director (Life Sciences) to join a growing team working on challenging, collaborative, innovative projects within their Life Sciences Business Unit in the UK.


The Associate Director will support the Director of UK Operations for growth and execution of Merrick's regional Life Science business as an extension of their global capabilities.

This role will communicate and coordinate with all project and client stakeholders as required for successful project execution, involving multiple lines of effort over sustained periods.

It is anticipated that 2/3rds of the role will focus on business development and outreach initiatives with the balance providing project specific work.


Key duties and responsibilities:


  • Coordinate with the Merrick team to deliver solutions to the daytoday challenges in the in the biocontainment, biotechnology, biopharmaceutical, and pharmaceutical industry's facilities portfolio from planning through design, commissioning, validation, regulatory compliance, and operational analysis.
  • Assist in business development (BD) activities including preparation of proposals and supporting market engagement and proposal development efforts.
  • Provide focused market analysis to develop targeted alignment of corporate capabilities for regional growth opportunities.
  • Responsible for leading teams of technical staff, consultants, contractors and managing projects from start to finish. They must be able to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues, and have strong problemsolving and analytical skills.
  • Support the project manager in the monitoring of scope, schedule, budget, risk, deliverables and client expectations throughout initiation, execution, and closeout phases of projects.

Person specification:


  • Demonstrable experience in technical consulting and coordination for multidiscipline technical projects.
  • Degree level education in an applicable science, technology, or management field with associated industry experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in providing advisory services focused on optimising the development, delivery and operational performance of highconsequence RDT&E and life sciences infrastructure for industry, academic and government clients.
  • Demonstrable experience of establishing and sustaining client relationships.
  • Leadership and management skills to assist in the establishment and management of multidiscipline technical project team to execute UK and EU projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interface successfully with project teams, management, and clients.
  • Proven technical writing experience and capability to assist in writing, reviewing, coordinating, and revising technical studies and business development proposal documents.
  • A reliable selfstarter and quick learner with strong organisational skills.
  • Punctual with a strong work ethic and a proactive approach.
  • Ability to represent the firm with a high degree of professionalism, integrity, and business ethics required.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, MS Teams, and MS Project with ability to analyse and produce performance metrics.
  • Desirable but not essential: Formal professional qualification in a relevant Project/Programme Discipline, such as PMBOK/PMP or Prince2 Practitioner.
  • Desirable but not essential: Experience with emerging technology integration and solutions within the industry.
  • Desirable but not essential: Experience developing thought leadership products and industry presentations.
