Group Financial Controller being hired for Automotive business in Hampshire

£110,000 - £130,000 basic salary + Car scheme + Bonus + Benefits


I am exclusively retained to hire a Group Financial Controller to join an acquisitive Automotive business with ambitious growth plans.

You will be the right hand person to the CFO and will take full ownership of leading the day to day operations of the Financefunction.

You will lead a significant team including transaction processing, cash collection, management information, financial reporting and FP&A.

This role will sit on the Operations Board and be a crucial member of the designated Senior Leadership Teamof the business, and will play a key part in driving improvements and future growth in the business.


You will need to have the ability to lead, coach and develop a large team, have a broad knowledge of Finance, accounting and compliance issues and have a commercial mindset to partner with the Operations team.

The role will form a key part of the long-termdevelopment and succession plan within the Finance function.

  • Chartered accountant (preferably Big4 trained)
  • Extensive Financial Control, Financial Reporting and Finance Operations experience in a large corporate
  • Strong leadership capability and past experience of leading a large team
  • Automotive industry experience would be an advantageous but is not essential
  • Ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally
  • Extensive process improvement experience
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiation skills
  • Collaborative and curious mindset with the drive to succeed

Key responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead, develop and coach a large Finance team people)
  • Key outputs from the Finance Department include transaction processing, cash collection, supplier payments, management information, commercial decision support, reporting for banks and finance houses, statutory accounting, cash and working capital management,bank covenant compliance, compliance with all relevant fiscal and financial obligations, financial control and other risk management
  • Ensure ontime delivery of good quality monthly management information to the senior leadership team
  • Reponsible for ensuring cashflow management which delivers the righ balance of bank covenant compliance, interest cost reduction and improved return on capital employed
  • Liase, interact and challenge the Operations Board on all matters Finance
  • Develop and improve the management information to provide a relevant, broad and balanced picture of the group's performance and outlook
  • Support commercial decisionmaking through providing financial advice to operational management
