Hours:

36 with Alternate weekends-£10.84 weekdays and £11.38 Weekends

Overall Responsibility
To ensure that on a day-to-day basis the social and welfare needs of the residents are met.

You will be responsible for implementing comprehensive and meaningful activity that reflects the needs, capabilities, interests and skills of the residents in your care.

All activities must be carried out in a safe and risk assessed manor.


Responsibilities:


  • To help create a varied, stimulating and meaningful activity programme to enhance the quality of life for each resident within the home. Ensure that daily and weekly activities/ events are clearly displayed.
  • To organise and coordinate one to one and group activities for residents, bespoke to their individual interests and choices.
  • To help plan and organise an activities programme that progresses over time.
  • To plan and organise external outings with appropriate transport
  • To plan activities that engage residents with the wider community
  • To help create a homely environment where our residents can participate, are engaged, stimulated and have a sense of purpose.
  • To promote independence and help residents to manage identified risk in the least restrictive way.
  • Identify residents' activity needs and wishes, likes, dislikes, interests, abilities and difficulties through assessment, observation and discussion, to include families, friends and significant others in planning and carrying out activities.
  • To create, review and update social stimulation care plans on Nourish for all residents. Care plans and activities to be structured to ensure that we recognise our residents are unique and that they require personalised consideration in order to optimise stimulation and general wellbeing. Each plan must be reviewed monthly or sooner if there is a change. To include transfer of information from 'Who am I' document.
  • To ensure that all work/interactions are recorded in writing accurately and professionally.
  • Ensure that activities do not discriminate between residents and are structured to consider equality and diversity and maintain privacy, dignity and respect.
  • Explore the most appropriate methods and resources for meeting activity needs, including group events, individual sessions, involving internal and external sources and involving communitybased resources.
  • Carry out risk assessments to reduce any identified risks and help enable maximum independence for individuals participating in planned activities in conjunction with other colleagues and management.
  • Maintain records of resident participation in activities and ensure documentation of the impact of activities on resident general wellbeing on Nourish.
  • Display and disseminate information to highlight and advertise the activities programme. This is encouraged through a monthly newsletter informing residents, relatives and their friends of what is going on.
  • Regularly review resident needs, the programme of activities and levels of participation, in conjunction with Management.
  • Organise themed events as required, based on local holidays, significant occasions, traditions, etc.
  • Organise date, structure, advertising, and general coordination of annual summer fete.
  • Participate in fund raising events as required.
  • Liaise with management when some organised events are outside your normal working day.
  • Manage a monthly budget.
  • Work in collaboration with others in team to ensure that all areas of activity are covered to enhance the wellbeing and lives of people living within a home.
General responsibilities

  • To attend and participate in staff meetings and attend all mandatory training when required.
  • To attend supervision and appraisals ensuring that you have prepared for these when required
  • To attend any other training when a need has been identified.
  • To communicate effectively with other staff, relatives and visitors including professional agencies and outside activity providers regarding residents.
  • To be fully aware of the fire of policy and procedures for the home(s) where you carry out your work.
  • To be familiar with all current policies and procedures and understand your duty to comply and implement them when necessary.
  • To adhere fully to the uniform and dress code at all times.
  • Ensure that you do not use a mobile telephone while on duty
  • To ensure that all information is kept confidential.
  • Understand your duty to whistle blow if you witness bad practice or harm to a resident within the Home
  • To promote and ensure the good reputation of the Home at all times, both on the premises and outside at events and external training sessions.
Any other duties that may be reasonably delegated by the management team.

During the pandemic the activity co-ordinator may be required to train and assist with the lateral flow testing for staff and relatives.

This will include the registering of information onto the government website.
