An excellent opportunity work as an Associate Lecturer supporting the teaching team on the MSc Psychology programme.

Your main responsibility will be preparation, teaching, administration and assessment of the Neuroscience (P) module, which is a Level 7 module offered as a compulsory part of our BPS-accredited MSc Psychology.

The module offers an in-depth exploration of a range of issues relating to the neuroscience from a psychological perspective, such as the structure and function of neurons and the nervous system, relevant neuroscience methods (including neuroimaging techniques and the use of neuropsychological case studies), the neural basis of sensory, motor, and language processes and of emotions, psychopathology, and behaviour genetics.

Full materials for all lectures will be provided.

The module is delivered on Wednesday afternoons 2pm - 5pm for 10 weeks from January 2023 to April 2023, with accompanying marking responsibilities. All assessment is by coursework.

  • A first degree in Psychology or an equivalent relevant qualification.
  • Advanced experience in using a range of statistical techniques and report writing suitable for quantitative psychological science research.
  • Awareness of the needs of parttime adult learners and ability to engage the interest and enthusiasm of students and inspire them to learn.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, to convey both simple and more complex information and academic concepts.
  • A good working knowledge of SPSS.
  • Commitment to working with diversity.
  • Organisation and administrative skills.
  • The ability able to work both as part of a team and independently as appropriate and have the ability to support teaching.
  • A willingness to engage in reflective practice.

Remuneration:


Payment is based on an hourly rate depending on length of continuous service with the College (starting rate £63.55 per hour inclusive of pro-rata London Allowance and holiday pay) for contact hours worked.

This hourly rate is based on the starting point of Grade 7 and is inclusive of a 'Duties Related to Teaching Multiplier' which covers preparation, teaching, administration, assessment marking and other examining duties in connection with the course.
