Health & Safety Officer

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Actively participate in promoting a Safety First culture across the organisation.
  • Advise the Board and Senior Management team on implications of current and emerging legislation, making recommendations and generating action plans for implementation.
  • Report compliance with Health and Safety systems which meet specific requirements, such as accident reporting, near miss reporting, risk assessments and COSHH assessments.
  • Monitor compliance with the company Health and Safety policies and procedures on a day to day basis, undertaking safety walks and advising managers on areas of noncompliance for action.
  • Ensure the companies BS OHSAS 18:001 standard is maintained. Liaise and facilitate with the authorising body to ensure the required external audit programme is met.
  • Perform internal audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Health and Safety systems and procedures, identify and be part of implementing improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Health and Safety role
  • A relevant professional qualification e.g. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent is essential
  • Proven track record of delivery of Health and Safety Management systems
  • Excellent organisation, planning and communication skills and good selfawareness
  • Able to work as part of a team following a cohesive plan, and can also work independently
  • Previous experience of working in a fast paced and dynamic manufacturing environment is preferred
