Description
We are a family owned & run timber merchant specializing in fencing timbers. Job role is for a forklift driver/yard operative at our Culford depot 6 miles north of Bury St Edmunds.
Day to day duties include:
- Forklift driving
- Loading & unloading inwards and outwards trucks
- Manual lifting
- Loading customers vans and small trucks with products when a forklift isn't possible
- Day to day maintenance of the forklifts
- Lubricating & daily general safety walk round checks
- Picking orders for collections & deliveries
- Keeping the yard tidy and safe
- Working outside all year round
Skills needed
- Punctuality; must be on time in the morning for a 7am start
- Flexibility to do overtime after closing during the week when required
- Good people skills you are the face of the company when dealing with customers
- Good experience on a telehandler or forklift truck (ideally rough terrain)
- Physically fit and well, the job is very physically demanding compared with some other yard/warehouse jobs
- Ability to work in a fast paced and tough environment
- Standard car driving licence
- Experience of a similar relevant job
