Are you seeking a career development opportunity? Are you enthusiastic and committed to supporting families who have children with serious and/or terminal conditions, then we would love you to join the Family Liaison team and be part of the growing Family Support department.


As a department, we work with families directly in person, virtually and over the telephone providing advocacy, emotional, practical, and social support.

We support the whole family from referral to bereavement.


We are seeking someone who is able to support siblings, run information sessions or facilitate peer groups for parents and carers as part of the planned activities and events that the team deliver.

This role will also provide direct and responsive support to those families identified by Nurses and Health Care Assistants, for families that may be in crisis due to a change in circumstances, whose child is receiving end of life care or using one of the bereavement suites.

Family Support and Nursing Care will work together to meet the needs of the service user and family members, across the organisation and in partnership with external agencies.


You will have proven experience of working with individuals from diverse backgrounds including children with complex care needs and their families.

You will be able to confidently build open, supportive, and professional working relationships with parents and carers, in person, by phone and virtually.

You will also be able to present to other departments in the organisation alongside relevant professional bodies to provide better outcomes for families.


As an excellent communicator, you will regularly engage with families via various platforms, including closed Families Facebook page and raise the profile of Family Support internally.

Reporting to the Family Liaison Lead and working closely with Creative Arts Therapists, Family Events and Bereavement and Counselling team.

This role is perfect if you are innovative and passionate. You will receive regular supervision, support and opportunities for specialist training. This post is flexible for the right person, with occasional, planned weekend work.
