Help us make a difference as a
Shift Production Manager based from our site in Seaham. The Shift Production Manager has two main accountabilities within the 24 hours, 7 days a week facility.

We operate a 4 on 4 off shift pattern (days & nights) 7-7.

Manage the manufacturing process ensuring all targets are achieved, reporting on various operational targets.
Optimise working practices ensuring safety standards are maintained at all times. Identify personnel performance shortfalls and implement in-housetraining. Elevate all external training requirements to the Plant Manager.

Biffa require a
Shift Production Managerwho will have full responsibility for all aspects of the process whilst on shift, the Shift Production Manager leads the team in achieving excellence in health and safety, product quality, asset performanceand utilisation and communicate any problems or obstacles to senior management.


This position requires a good level of management skills to liaise with supervisors and other managers on a daily basis, to meet a multitude of targets - QSHE, production, process developments.

  • Responsible for the Health & Safety of all employees working on your shift and ensure housekeeping and general cleanliness of the plant and equipment is maintained to a high standard
  • Ensuring the workforce understand and are compliant with company safety policies and procedures. Provide a safe working environment by conducting risk assessments, manual handling assessments and COSHH evaluations.
  • Encouraging and participating in near miss and hazard reporting, and deliver Tool Box Talks and other required health and safety training to assist Biffa Polymers achieve excellence in health and safety as well as meeting business KPI's
  • Managing the processing activities in the plant, ensuring optimum performance of all available resources including people and machinery
  • Establishing operational KPI's for your team and ensure that these are delivered through performance management and employee development, together with improvement to plant, processes and efficiencies to deliver product of the right quality
  • In conjunction with fellow Production Managers design and implement Standard Operating Procedures to ensure all processes achieve uniformed optimum performance measures including Overall Equipment Efficiency and availability to meet business KPI's and customerrequirements

  • The ability to communicate with conviction, plan with precision and, most importantly, play well with others.
