YOUTH WORKER JOB DESCRIPTION

A Place To Be Youth Worker (paid part-time position - term time only)
1 Role summary

To help run a youth group on Friday night (term time only). This role will include supervising young people, engaging them in a variety of activities and building relationships with them.

2) Renumeration and Hours

Hours - 3 hours every Friday during term time - APTB is open 7pm-9pm however an extra hour is expected (30 minutes either side) for set up and closing of the premises.

Salary - £11-£14 per hour (dependent on experience) for 3 hours per week on club nights.

Term - permanent with with a 3-month probationary period and a term's notice from either party.

3 Purpose of appointment

To create a fun, stimulating and safe environment where young people from the ages of year olds will meet to engage with each other and have fun in an atmosphere where they can also invite others.

The aim is to transform lives and equip young people with life skills in order to identify and achieve their potential.

4 Accountability

Youth Workers report to the Youth Leader who will be present each week. They are also accountable to the Management Comittee that oversee the youth group.

5 Detailed job description

(a) To be responsible for the youth members on a Friday evening and ensure appropriate safeguarding is upheld (training provided).

(b) To engage with the young people in a fun and safe way.

(c) To work within the team

(d) Build relationships with the young people through planned activities and be a part of overall behaviour management strategy

Personal Qualities:

The youth worker must have a passion for the youth, be willing to get involved, be both confident and compassionate and be able to relate to and motivate young people.
