Description

The Department of Landscape Architecture at the University of Sheffield is the only independent department in the field within the UK.

We have an international reputation and track record of excellence in research, innovation and education in the planning, design and management of landscapes.

The Department is part of the Faculty of Social Sciences and contributes to the Faculty research agendas of Health and Wellbeing, Sustainable Futures and Inclusive Society.

This in turn sits within the wider university Vision, organised under its four pillars of research, innovation, education and one university.

As part of this vision we are seeking to appoint a Research Associate who will work with Professor Helen Woolley, the Head of Department, in support of her international research about children's outdoor environments, including the following projects:

  • Growing Up in China: with PhD team


As a future member of one of the department's research clusters (Place, Inclusion and Equity) you will work with colleagues to support the ongoing development of the international standing of the department.

This will include making presentations to the cluster, department and beyond and other dissemination activities, as well as generating significant impact of the work.

You will hold a PhD, or equivalent experience, in landscape architecture, children's outdoor environments or a cognate discipline such as childhood studies, education or human geography and have an in interest in international and interdisciplinary research.
