We are looking for an enthusiastic member of staff to join our existing secretarial team within the Head and Neck Department.

This would be a great opportunity for someone looking to step up to the role of Medical Secretary.


AsMedical Secretaryto the Ear, Nose and Throat Team, the role is advertised for 22.5 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday, 9-5.

Responsible for providing an in-depth administrative support to the Ear, Nose and Throat Consultant team and the wider department.

This will include tracking of investigations including those on Oncology pathways. Audio typing of clinics and ensuring all RTT and outcomes are completed accurately.

Assist with telephone enquiries from patients, GPs and other agencies in a courteous and helpful manner. Liaising with medical staff and other departments as necessary.


The Head and Neck Department consists of Ear, Nose and Throat, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics, Restorative Dentistry and Plastic Surgery.


The Head and Neck service is very busy and the secretarial team is key to ensure things run smoothly and efficiently.


It is therefore imperative that each member of the team works well under pressure and as a team player but equally as important that they are able to work independently and priorities workload effectively.


One of the main rewards of this role is knowing you have made a difference and enhanced a patient's experience within the department.

To prioritise workload

To ensure all clinical and non-clinical correspondence and reported are typed within local targets

To organise meetings, include collation and distribution of agendas, taking and transcribing formal minutes

To ensure relevant training is completed in order to use trust IT computer systems
