Procurement team as a
Buyer in
Balfour Beatty Living Places, you'll work with true experts who'll share their knowledge and provide support, encouragement and invaluable feedback so you never stop learning.
The base location for this role is flexible but will require frequent travel to our Local Authority clients.
What you'll be doing
As a Buyer, you will have the following accountabilities:
- Management of the end to end procurement activities for the sourcing of subcontracts, materials, plant and equipment for various Living Places highways, maintenance and public realm contracts
- Using the Jaggaer eprocurement portal, development, and governance of package specific sourcing plans with project team, including RFIs/RFQs/RFPs
- Coordination, governance, and maintenance of Procurement Schedules, in conjunction with Commercial teams
- Support in negotiation of terms, conditions, and prices against tender allowances/target costs
- Process requisition orders and raise Purchase Orders in line with company procedures and delegated levels of authorities and expedite as required
- Manage supply chain performance objectively via the Jaggaer e procurement performance module and provide regular reports to include performance development plans as required, to ensure continuous improvement within the supply chain
- Collaborate with suppliers and project team to assist with the resolution of supply issues as and when required, escalating as required
- Monitor the supply market to identify potential new suppliers and products and lead meetings with suppliers to understand their products and the category market, keeping abreast of market developments, demand trends and risks to proactively support the project requirements
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
- An understanding of how to run end to end procurement projects from market research, through sourcing, to contract and supplier management
- Prior exposure to negotiating commercial deals and contractual terms and conditions
- Experience of planning and delivering against bid/project milestones
- Robust problemsolving skills and ability to use own initiative to identify areas of improvement and propose solutions
- Awareness of commercial and financial risks and how to manage them
- Highly customer focused and desire to meet and exceed customer expectations
