Hours:

- **Full time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (required to work on some of our bank holiday programme)

What you'll do


The Environmental Manager will be responsible for the operational service in the designated area/depot, ensuring that the contract objectives of the service are met, whilst focusing on the Health and Safety of both the operatives and the general public.


Main duties will include:

  • Responsibility for ensuring a sustainable safety culture within the contract.
  • Ensuring that you update and retain a strong knowledge of fleet and road transport law. Promoting personal ownership, undertaking risk assessments, maintaining accurate records, monitoring checks (vehicles, PPE etc.) and timely accident investigations.
  • Consistently lead the day to day area operations whilst on shift, developing an engaged and motivated team.
  • Delivering a high profile management style, being visible in your area and monitoring standards.
  • Developing and maintaining a strong partnership relationship with the client team, through regular meetings and updates and working collaboratively to resolve any problems that arise.
  • Ensuring that there is always the required staffing level and skill balance to facilitate a full-service deployment.
  • Developing the operational team.
  • Ensuring that all new employees receive induction training.
  • Maintaining accurate and auditable records on all systems relating to the service delivery and contract personnel.
  • Continuously reviewing and analysing operational data/service information to ensure that excellence in service delivery is maintained.
  • Responsibility for all people management activities of the operational team including welfare, performance, attendance, disciplinaries, grievances and training dealing with all matters in an effective, appropriate and timely manner.
  • Ensuring that the budget is met and rationalized, including maximizing productivity and cost control, checks on holiday rotas and overtime and controls on requests for goods, services or supplies.
  • Producing written reports on request (relating to matters of service or staff). These will be in a variety of formats, including Word, Google and PowerPoint and require interrogation of a variety of data sources to support this work.

The experience you will need

  • Previous management experience.
  • Previous experience of working within the waste industry.
  • Knowledge and experience of working in an operational environment
  • Knowledge of health & safety.
  • Hold a driving license.
- ? Knowledge of Fleet compliance.
- ? Knowledge of FTA rules and regulations.

Where you'll work
You will be working out of our Harlow Depot, CM20 2SE

You will be joining a fast-paced and vibrant team who work hard and play hard.

You will be required to travel at times around the Harlow borough as this is where the front line staff you will be managing are based.
