About the role:
As an Assistant Architectural Technologist, you will be part of Powys County Council's Property Design Services team.
You will be working on construction projects in a consultancy role, supporting the design of new buildings, extensions and alterations required to develop the Council's education, leisure, community, and farms estates.
About you:
- You will have an interest in architecture and construction design and may already be working as an architectural technologist.
- You will enjoy designing and detailing buildings and may have experience of contract administration, undertaking measured survey work and monitoring onsite construction activities.
- You will have good communication and IT skills (including CAD) and be able to manage a diverse workload and heavy demands whilst adhering to tight timescales.
- You will enjoy and be able to work within a team environment, working with colleagues, clients, consultants and stakeholders across the breadth of the Council.
- You will have a basic knowledge of health and safety requirements within the construction industry to ensure that high standards and safe working practices are maintained.
What you will do:
- Assist in the programming, design, detail, specification and administration of capital and maintenance building projects (i.e. of contract value under £750k) to ensure that projects are delivered in a timely fashion to agreed budgets in accordance with Council policies and procedures and all relevant statutory requirements.
- Work with senior staff to survey buildings and sites and prepare plans and other descriptive drawings and documents so that accurate information is available for the design, maintenance, and management of the County's building assets.
- Complete projects on time and within financial targets.
- Research and evaluate the suitability of building materials, systems and specifications to ensure that the performance requirements for individual projects are met.
- Consult and liaise with other professionals, contractors and suppliers and direct, manage and coordinate their activities to ensure that project needs are met and that their performance, workmanship and Health and Safety practices are to a high standard.
