Would you like to join our existing pool of Bank staff who work as Pathology Bank Drivers for our essential daily service to General Practitioners??


We require bank staff to cover annual leave for our substantive staff and in times of short notice emergency cover.


The role involves maintaining a daily van route, keeping to strict deadlines, collecting samples and delivering reports, around Leicestershire to GP practices and Health Service premises, delivery of stock requirements, moving of heavy goods and daily vehicle inspections.

You will also from time to time be required to work within our Pathology stores helping to process the GP consumable orders.

Good communication skills, and reliability are essential alongside using your initiative.

Experience of working as an individual and also within a team whilst having good knowledge of the Leicester and Leicestershire area is essential.

Full training will be given and a clean driving license preferred but not essential.


We are currently recruiting experienced drivers to join our pool of Bank Pathology Drivers based at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Good communication skills are essential with previous experience of working alone, being able to use your own initiative and work as part of a team

Good navigational skills are required with a knowledge of the Leicester and Leicestershire road networks.

The post holders will need to keep to strict deadlines and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.

Lifting and handling of laboratory materials is essential to this role.

Full training will be provided.

A clean driving license is preferred but not essential

JOB SUMMARY


To assist in the seamless provision of our pathology transport service to/from General Practitioners and other healthcare bodies throughout Leicestershire.

As a lone worker using own initiative and ensuring professional standards are maintained.

  • Technical/medical staff within each discipline of Pathology

KEY RESULT AREAS

  • To undertake relevant training within the NHS in order to assist with the learning and development within the team
  • To help maintain the General Practitioners and local community hospital pathology transport service throughout Leicestershire
  • To provide a service to Medical Physics for transport of isotopes across site
  • To provide an ad hoc service for transport of drugs across site
  • To transport samples to and from Kettering General Hospital and Nottingham Hospitals
  • To support development and implementation of good working practices to ensure the timely delivery of samples to the laboratory
  • To continually ensure best practices are followed when visiting GPs, carrying identification and using the correct sample transport equipment
  • Ensure confidentiality is observed at all times when collecting/delivering patient samples
  • To complete written route sheet of the days schedule
  • To maintain high levels of H&S within the department and while on route
  • Daily inspection of vehicle ensuring it is roadworthy

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Collect vehicle from appropriate site and carry out a vehicle check. Responsible for ensuring vehicle is roadworthy and continually maintained, reporting problems
