CAD Design Engineer

Salary/Rate Guide:

£25,000 - £35,000 pa

Location:

Office based in the Braintree - Earls Colne - Colchester area - Own transport required due to location


Established industry leader in specialised vehicle solutions is looking to recruit a CAD Design Engineer to lead the CAD design engineering for all conversions, fabrication and electrical design.

Your duties vary depending on the complexity of the projectsyou are working on.

In addition, as a CAD Design Engineer you will be responsible for all areas of design and ensure were adhering to standard engineering practice.

This is a customer facing role and you will be involved in all aspects of the project.

The role requires someone to work closely with internal departments and transfer information from the sales documents and produce technical drawings for both internaland external suppliers.


Key Roles and Duties:


  • Create highquality detailed technical drawings and plans based on designs supplied by Sales and Engineering and make modifications to existing drawings
  • Use a variety of CAD software programmes, mainly SolidWorks to create designs in 2D and 3D models
  • Liaise with customers, engineers and designers to understand their design requirements and provide technical advice to manufacturing and construction technicians
  • Provide accurate, detailed and to scale drawings
  • Ensure drawings are compliant with industry and health and safety standards and protocols
  • Attend site visits and surveys when required
  • Present working drawings for use in all stages of the project, tender, manufacture/construction and conversion
  • Produce installation and manufacturing documentation
  • Maintain accurate records.

Essential Skills and Experience:


  • Significant experience in using computeraided design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of engineering principles and ability to create and read technical drawings
  • Problem solving, creativity and innovation in order to come up with solutions to design problems
  • Teamwork essential to be able to work in a team as you'll be liaising with other CAD Technicians and Draughtspersons on projects
  • Organisation and time management to complete work to project deadlines
  • A flexible approach to decision making, to make changes to drawings at short notice
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing drawing and other supporting materials
  • Focus and flexibility towards tasks and responsibilities expected in the role
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to deliver appropriate messages in a consistent and timely manner
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements in order to design in line with industry standards
  • Good understanding of ISO 900
  • Full driving licence

Desirable:


  • Experience in an automotive role (electrical or mechanical)
  • Experience working with sheet metal/fabrication
  • Leadership experience

Salary/Rate Guide:
£25,000 - £35,000 pa

Hours:
Monday to Friday: 8.30am to 5.00pm

Location:
in the Braintree - Earls Colne area - This is an office based position

Own transport required due to location
