Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within the Homelessness and Housing Advice Service. This position is for a Senior Homelessness Prevention and Relief Officer.

A full time post working Monday to Friday.

About the role
This is a unique opportunity to join a diverse & experienced team. We are looking for experienced applicants who have strong administrative, investigative and mentoring skills. A knowledge of homelessness and/or homelessness legislation would be an advantage.

The role requires a person that has key communication skills, both written and verbal as you will be required to interview customers to understand what has led to their homelessness and determine how we can best assist them.

You will carry a caseload of complex or high-risk clients, so you will have to be confident in organising your time to meet their needs and support them in finding alternative accommodation, often with a sense of urgency and numerous competing demands.

You will be responsible for sourcing and managing temporary accommodation and for supporting people in finding longer term accommodation.

You will support the Deputy Manager and contribute to the success of the team and to on-going review and improvement of the service, including advising and mentoring other staff.

You will need to represent the service at high level multi agency meetings and be confident in your own knowledge of the legislation to make informed decisions at those meetings.

Our clients come to us at one of the most vulnerable times in their lives, they can be frustrated, anxious and frightened about the situation they are in.

It is essential you can operate under pressure, have empathy and a calm and confident approach to your work to help customers feel re-assured.

There will be opportunities for training to support career progression.

This is an interesting, complex, diverse area to work in, where no two days are the same. If this sounds like you, we would like to hear from you.

More information is contained within the person specification and job description.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
