The role
As a Material Planner, you will have a role that is out of the ordinary. Our Vehicle Engineering business operates a whole life methodology to specialist vehicle conversions.

This ranges from concept design and assessment, to manufacture and installation of customer specific equipment, through to maintenance and eventual decommissioning of the vehicle.

Day to day, you will be responsible for managing the release of demands for materials within an MRP worksheet. Moreover, you will coordinate all change control activities, amongst also creating and distributing material availability and shortage reports.

This new role is an brings an opportunity to be part of a new product line offering the ability to develop the role through continuous improvement activities.


  • Support the S&OP process by developing the MRP capability within the business to align with operational planning and Customer requirements.
  • Manage and maintain the MRP tool
  • Create and distribute material reports to relevant stakeholders
  • Engage with internal stakeholders in continuous improvement activities within the Material planning function.
  • Raise and release purchase requisitions towards procurement based on system demand profiles.
  • Evolve existing processes through continuous improvement tasks aiming for greater discipline and control and documentation within all functions as they relate to the planning function.
  • Control of materials under engineering change process towards all stakeholders
  • Control the release of engineer Bills of Material towards procurement
  • Escalate material availability to purchasing and supply chain management stakeholders
  • Ensure production requirements are communicated and prioritised

Essential experience of the Material Planner,

  • Proven experience within an engineering planning environment
  • Ability to use spreadsheets (Excel), databases, shared working environment and other IT programmes
  • Willingness to work 'hands on' across the wider business when necessary.
  • Selfstarter with high energy levels, personal drive and commitment.
  • Experienced user of MRP systems / Tools
  • Continuous improvement
This role is 37.5 hours per week. Full time on-site. Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-2pm.


Qualifications for the Material Planner,

  • Higher Diploma Level or relevant experience
