This is a Hybrid role with 2 days of working from home available.

38 days Holiday including bank holidays

Monday - Thursday 08:00-16:30, Friday 08:00-15:30

Flexi time working available with the core business hours of work being 09:30 - 15:00

Main Focus of the Role


As a Material Planner you are responsible for the appropriate and accurate order processing for materials and information regarding logistics.

Being the first point of contact for designated customers and suppliers you will be required to possess strong business relationship building and customer service skills to ensure all customer orders are processed & delivered on time.

The Material Planner is responsible for ensuring all necessary stock levels for both components and finished goods are kept to a minimum.

Strong communication skills are required with this position, being able to both develop and maintain communication with customers and suppliers at all times regarding their orders.

Key Duties

Process customer orders efficiently & accurately on a daily basis

Control stock at all levels of production

Challenge suppliers when necessary to ensure SLA'S are met

Manage and communicate effectively the expectations of the customer

Be competent and comfortable or dealing with conflict and expediting

Communicate effectively with external & internal contacts regarding orders

Place orders with overseas suppliers according to customer demand and production

Prepare statistical analysis and reports as & when required

Plan workload in advance following a yearly cycle, although ad-hoc queries may take priority over planned tasks

The nature of work varies considerably each month depending on deadlines. Yearly cycles do not vary greatly and the knowledge and experience gained from previous years enables effective planning

Experience / Skills Required

Educated to GCSE level with Maths and English; Supply Chain & Logistics/Business Studies 2:1 min desirable

Solid background in Manufacturing / Logistics

Approximately 1-3 years' experience is needed to perform the job at a competent level

Proven experience of managing customer orders & developing a rapport with customers

Experience of working in a multi-site environment (desirable)

Highly experienced in working under own initiative, demonstrating an ability to set & meet personal targets, combined with the flexibility to adjust to workload priorities to take account of new deadlines

Interpersonal & communication skills, commitment to customer service, and building effective working relationships

Awareness of wider Company issues and relevant legislation. Required to keep informed of changes in legislation and departmental policy to deliver correct advice

Ability to organise and prioritise workload, maintain confidentiality, and produce/process documents accurately.

Good written and numerical skills

IT knowledge, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and SAP

A flexible approach to work, along with the ability to work as part of a team
