About HMRC
Do you thrive in a collaborative, high-paced environment? Are you great at building and maintaining positive relationships?
At HMRC, we are already one of the most digital advanced tax authorities in the world and have one of the largest IT infrastructures and data sources in the UK.
If you're excited by change, we offer unique and unparalleled opportunities to work with some of the newest technologies and make a real, lasting difference.
HMRC Chief Digital & Information Office (CDIO) is made up of Customer Groups which are working independently towards one common goal.
Within CDIO we deliver in-house solutions for projects and programmes that deal with a broad range of business, technical and operational challenges.
Our CDIO offices are hi-tech, state-of-the-art facilities that allow our teams to maximise their capabilities.
This exciting opportunity sits within our Case Management Delivery Group (CMDG) which is aligned to the Customer Compliance Business Area.
We are responsible for providing case and content management solutions used by around 26,000 colleagues across various directorates within HMRC.
Our goal is to deliver reliable, secure and supportable solutions; these are produced by Product Teams based in Telford, Newcastle and Bristol, who are accountable for the end-to-end lifecycle of the products they support.
CMDG is concluding the migration of its products to Cloud hosted solutions and is looking to exploit the opportunities provided by these flexible and scalable platforms.
As the Head of (Agile) Delivery Management, you will have the opportunity to work alongside colleagues and third-party teams to help us grow the functionality provided, enabling our end users to exploit their capabilities to deliver better outcomes for the country.
We are committed to creating a great place to work for all our colleagues; an inclusive and respectful environment that reflects the diversity of the society we serve.
We want to maximise the potential of everyone who chooses to work for us, and we offer a range of flexible working patterns and support to make a fulfilling career at HMRC accessible to you.
Job description:
About the Profession
As a Head of (Agile) Delivery Management, we are passionate about people, leading a community of Delivery Managers and representing and championing Delivery Management across the department and industry.
We are credible and influential at a senior level and work with other head of roles to promote effective cross-functional delivery.
We are skilled leaders who can communicate the value of the role to digital and non-digital stakeholders.
We support the professional development and continuous improvement of our community, and responsible for recruitment, ensuring we get the right people for the right jobs.
About the role
As a Head of (Agile) Delivery Management, you are an essential component of HMRC's strategic delivery aspirations.
You will be responsible for supporting HMRC's strategic development objectives with practical and innovative development practices and ensuring appropriate Agile and delivery management techniques are used by our multi-disciplinary teams.
You will support the Head of Job Family for Delivery Management and will contribute to the strategic career development plans of the Delivery Manager role, including learning and development and career progression.
You will be part of a strong national community of other Heads of (Agile) Delivery Management and Senior Delivery Managers, where you will support your peers as well as learn from their knowledge and experience.
As an Agile expert, you will use your own knowledge and experience to introduce new ways of working within CDIO and the wider organisation.
You will actively seek out the latest developments in delivery methodology and, where appropriate, look to introduce these into your teams.
You will appropriately challenge at all levels when more innovative delivery practices would see improvements in working practices and deliver value to the customer and organisation.
HMRC is driving towards Agile Ways of Working across the estate and many of our teams currently use Agile working practices.
You will play a key part in supporting and guiding the teams in working towards becoming efficient and productive self-organised delivery teams.
