Job Details

About this Opportunity
The Haringey Recovery Service delivers psychosocial and activity-based interventions for adults in recovery from drug and alcohol use.

The service works in partnership with other local services such as drug and alcohol treatment services, family and young people's services, social services, criminal justice, mental health teams and other community projects.

Inspire
Evidence suggests that building the belief that change is possible is critical to positive change.

In addition, service user feedback consistently states that people want to hear from people who have made positive changes in relation to their alcohol or drug use.

Experience and Hope Group
Within that once every 2 weeks the Breaking the Cycle and once a month the Pre-Detox will be run as an Experience and Hope Group

  • Within this 12 HRS clients will attend the group and share their Experiences and Hope for their journey of Recovery, focusing on what motivated them to change and they went about the change process.
  • If the person is uncomfortable sharing their story the group will start with a Q&A with the group facilitator.
  • After this other group members will be able to ask questions and queries about the person's change process.

We would love you to bring to this role:

  • An ability to utilise Lived Experience to give positive and practical guidance and support.
  • An ability to empathise with and understand the challenge of making a change and approach this challenge in a respectful and nonjudgemental manner
  • Confident to give your own opinion about potential ways to improve the spaces in which you volunteer.
  • To work in tandem with the lead space facilitator and discuss any group concerns in the postgroup debrief and not the space itself.
  • A willingness to learn and take on positive and constructive feedback
  • Basic IT skills
  • An understanding of the importance of guidelines and procedures relating to key areas such as safeguarding and information governance
  • Willing to attend and complete relevant training
  • To participate in regular supervision sessions with your supervisor
