Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire

We have a new role for someone to join our Income and Money Advice Team.

You'll manage the rent accounts for the Group's charitable services Glow and Concrete, who provide support and accommodation to people facing domestic abuse and homelessness.


Job requirements

  • Work with customers to make sure payments are maintained and that they meet their agreements.
  • Maximise rent and other income through the effective management of customer accounts.
  • Complete income and expense reviews to make sure customers have enough income to meet rent and other payments to successfully manage a tenancy.
  • Help customers to complete a benefit entitlement assessment and support them with any claims.
  • Encourage customers to access support providers including Staffs Housing's money advice team.
  • Monitor rent arrears and make sure it complies with Group policies and procedures.
  • Take prompt action when customers fail to make rent payments. You'll work with them to make arrangements to repay anything outstanding.
  • Take legal action when needed by serving legal notices, preparing court documents and presenting cases in court.
  • Be responsible for collecting tenancy arrears, chargeable repairs, and sundry debts.

What we're looking for

  • Someone with a good general level of education including English and maths.
  • Experience in housing management or in collecting rent for an affordable housing provider.
  • Great customer service experience with a genuine compassion for people.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations affecting rent collection for affordable landlords.
  • Someone who is approachable and friendly that will make the service one people will want to use.
  • Someone who can be flexible and adaptable to the needs of residents.
  • A full driving licence with access to a vehicle suitable for business use.
  • A DBS check.
