Contract Term: 9 Months (potential for extension)

Contracting Authority:
Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Part of DFT

Location:
Swansea, Bristol, Nottingham (1-2 days in the office)

This Finance Business Partner role will be working in the BAU finance team and will be responsible for high quality and accurate financial information to support informed decision making through expert advice and challenge to DVSA stakeholders (Managers, Directors, Budget Holders, Senior Responsible Officers and Service Managers), including the provision of information, analysis, and interpretation of performance management data

As a Finance Business Partner your main responsibilities would be:

  • Supporting informed decision making through expert advice and challenge to DVSA stakeholders (Managers, Directors, Budget Holders, Senior Responsible Officers and Service Managers), including the provision of information, analysis, and interpretation of performance management data
  • Ensuring investments and spending decisions are supported by proportionate and relevant investment appraisal
  • Agreeing a forecast, profiled monthly with each budget holder within a directorate and reflect in the financial system
  • Attending senior management meetings for a directorate as the finance representative, to present and interpret the latest forecast, material variances, and discuss any other financial issues
  • Providing advice and challenge on financial assumptions and first line advice on accounting treatment to budget holders and senior corporate leaders (CSLs)
  • Supporting Financial Accounting and Financial Control teams as the Finance Business Partner for a directorate. To include advice and support in the understanding of accounting practices, policies and processes
  • Providing financial support and analysis of contract tender bids
  • Ensuring month end activities are performed in a timely and efficient manner, including the preparation of accruals and prepayments
  • Ensuring that all processes for yearend are completed to required timetables accurately
  • Working closely with the HR Business Partner to consider and provide financial assurance regarding staff cost forecasts

You'll have relevant experience in:


  • We are looking for someone with excellent financial control experience and good analytical skills.
  • CCAB/CIMA qualified accountant or actively training to achieve this.
  • Confident communication and can deliver sophisticated financial concepts to a varied audience, both verbally and in writing.
  • Preparing and producing financial plans and management accounts.
  • Building relationships comes naturally to you, helping you to craft and define new partnerships in new areas of the business.
  • Embracing and delivering change is one of your strengths and you enjoy supporting others by developing fit for purpose communications in line with the business requirements.
