SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 Support)

Contract Type:
Full-Time, ongoing placement


Our South Liverpool Primary School is seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a student with Special Educational Needs (SEN) holding an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP).

Our primary school is committed to creating an inclusive and nurturing environment where each child can flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.


Key Responsibilities:

1:1 Support: Work closely with a specific student with SEN, implementing personalised strategies outlined in their EHCP to facilitate their learning and development.

Adapted Learning: Collaborate with the class teacher and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to modify and adapt teaching materials to suit the individual needs of the supported student.

Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and monitor the academic and social progress of the student, providing feedback to the SENCo, class teacher, and parents/carers as required.

Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with the SENCo, class teacher, parents/carers, and external professionals involved in the student's support network.

Inclusion: Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the classroom, ensuring the supported student feels valued, engaged, and included in all aspects of school life.


Qualifications and Skills:


  • Relevant experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with EHCPs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the unique needs of each child.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents/carers, and external professionals.
  • Knowledge of relevant SEN strategies and interventions.
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to undertake a new one.
