Your main area of responsibility will be to undertake research and facilitation activity for NICRE innovation projects in the Northeast of England.

Together partners, these innovation projects combine theory and practice to catalyse new ways of thinking and support the development of new products, services and practices that provide tangible benefits to rural businesses and communities.

Your role will entail stimulating and managing a portfolio of innovative pilot and demonstration projects and carrying out associated applied/action research and evidence support.

The projects involve a range of partners from the public, private and not-for-profit sectors and involve learning through place

You will also provide support for the development of business cases for funding and associated partnerships in support of the regional and national work of NICRE.

NICRE undertakes research and knowledge exchange to inform policy, foster the innovation and resilience of rural businesses, and unlock the potential of rural economies across the UK.

It is funded by Research England and founding University Partners.

NICRE builds on three leading centres of expertise:

Newcastle University's Centre for Rural Economy and Business School, the Enterprise Research Centre at Warwick and the Countryside and Community Research Institute at Gloucestershire and Royal Agricultural Universities.

It involves a partnership between Universities, Government departments, local authorities and enterprise partnerships, businesses organisations, rural stakeholders, and enterprises. Strutt & Parker Property consultants are its founding national professional business service partners.

As part of our commitment to career development for research colleagues, the University has developed 3 levels of research role profiles.

These profiles set out firstly the generic competences and responsibilities expected of role holders at each level and secondly the general qualifications and experiences needed for entry at a particular level.

We are committed to building and maintaining a fair and inclusive working environment and we would be happy to discuss arrangements for flexible and/or blended working.
