Stoke Canon is a beautiful, small, village primary school, situated less than 5 miles from Exeter, with enthusiastic and friendly staff.
We are part of the Three Rivers Federation and we are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in two mixed aged classes.
The role will be working predominantly with Key Stage 2 initially but will also involve supporting phonics groups at Key Stage 1.
You should be flexible and prepared to involve yourself in all aspects of a small, friendly, rural school, including children with SEND.
You should have a passion for working with children, be enthusiastic, kind and resilient, have excellent communication skills, be able to think creatively and demonstrate a positive, calm and encouraging attitude.
You should have a good standard of education with good numeracy and literacy skills.Due to the needs of the children, you will be supporting, this role requires the ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence and fluency in English.
Your primary role will be to support children (working 1 to 1 and with small groups) under the guidance of the class teacher.
Experience of working with children through maths and English interventions, knowledge of supporting pupils with phonics and/or speech and language is highly desirable, along with the ability to work flexibly using your own initiative, are highly desirable attributes.
However, this is not essential as we can provide full training and support to the right person.
You will also be involved in supporting children at break and lunch times in setting up our play provision or helping with the dining arrangements in the school hall.
