We are currently supporting an extremely busy public sector organisation based in Manchester City Centre in their search for a Finance Assistant on a temporary contract.

This role is working 37.5 hours, Monday to Friday.


Key Responsibilities of the role include -

  • The post holder will perform daytoday balance sheet accounting activities and ledger maintenance.
  • Be responsible for ensuring invoice workflows are cleared regularly and queries resolved promptly.

Be the main point of contact for invoice queries from both stakeholders and regional finance teams, ensuring adherence to the correct procurement processand reporting of exceptions.


  • Support the development of streamlined processes around the national Agreement of Balances exercise, working closely with other members of the finance systems team and act as a central contact for queries.
  • Support wider financial accounting and control processes as required across all teams, including undertaking regular housekeeping tasks on a task type basis to ensure that the ledger and payment mechanisms are maintained in a timely manner.

Examples include,supplier set ups and maintenance, review and clearance of supplier statements, clearing invoice hold queries delaying the prompt payment of invoices.


  • Advise stakeholders where incorrect actions have led to system delays.
  • Be a key member of the team financial services team, as well as supporting effective communication and stakeholder management, both internally and externally and within the regional teams.
