Role Description

  • Princes Liverpool are looking for a Trade Compliance Coordinator to join their International Trade team. This is an opportunity to work for one of the UK's leading FMCG businesses within our impressive Head Office which is based in the Royal Liver Building in the heart of the city.
    Job Purpose
  • To review and update the shipments in transit report on a daily basis
  • To receive, control and process import documentation necessary to facilitate clearance procedures through the relevant authorities
  • External contact with clearing agents, shipping lines, Regulatory authorities and suppliers as necessary
  • Resolving issues with the supplier, Regulatory Authorities and shipping agents as required
  • Check & update any changes to HMRC Tariffs and inform the business of changes
  • IUU Due Diligence
  • Weekly deferment reconciliation
  • Owner of the Return to Supplier process

Shift Pattern


This is a Monday - Friday position with the opportunity to work x3 days per week from home on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

Mondays and Wednesdays you are required to be in the office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fully responsible for the review and update of the shipments in transit report daily by liaising with shipping lines and forwarding agents to verify accuracy of ETA's and amend as required so that the information on SAP is accurate for the business.
  • Identify those consignments arriving at port or within 45 days of UK arrival whereby necessary documents or correct documents have not yet been received and follow up with supplier.
  • Manage notification of consignments with document issues to the relevant Regulatory authorities to avoid rejection of stock and fines.
  • Inform the business in regard to any delays and unforeseen issues which could lead to stock shortages.
  • Receive and record receipt of all special deliveries of documentation. Maintain records for traceability. Check vessel ETA's and file in order of arrival. Ensure supplier invoices are passed to accounts as required.
  • Ensure timely and effective management of processing of import documentation to ensure adherence to Regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and verify accuracy of documentation supplied (e.g. Invoice, preference certs, health certs and bills of lading) against SAP shipments in transit and incoterms. Chase supplier/buying/accounts for any missing or replacement documentation to minimise disruption to supply chain.
  • Manage the import process in Excel, maintaining a sequential referencing system.
  • Instruct forwarding agents/carriers; detailing commodity codes, duty rates, preferences, tariff quotas and special procedures to be applied for to ensure goods a cleared at the most favourable duty rate.
  • Ensure we have the correct documentation for Products of Animal origin to facilitate clearance by the Port Health Authorities.
  • Compilation of insurance declaration schedules per import consignment for uninsured shipments calculating insurance premiums due.
  • Resolve any issues raised by Regulatory authorities or agents with the supplier requesting the necessary corrective action in a timely manner to minimise disruption to supply chain.
  • Receive tariff updates from HMRC on a monthly basis. Review rates of duty; record any changes on departmental spread sheets.
  • Proactively advise the business regarding any changes to duty rates and preferences we pay the lowest rates of duty possible
  • Perform IUU due diligence checks on catch certificates to ensure they are not on the illegal unreported, unregulated fishing regulation (IUU) blacklist and are legally compliant to the regulation.
  • Reconcile duty deferment statements as required and ensure any over or under payments of duty to HMRC are declared.
