You will be required to provide inspect welding activities associated with support to high integrity mechanical pipework manufacture and installations.


As a quality inspector you will provide an independent level of assurance of projects undertaken by both Balfour Beatty and its supply chain, by confirming compliance with the applicable statutory, industry and contractual requirements, enabling the organization to successfully complete certification and handover of the works.


What you'll be doing

This is an ideal role for someone who is an experienced quality inspector who can drive our quality activities to high standards and exceeding client expectations.


On a day-to-day basis you will:

  • Undertake inspection and quality surveillance of the works
  • Confirm compliance with the Works Information; maintain confidence in the competencies of its supply chain; meet the requirements for handover
  • Drive a process of continuous improvement of the management system and contractual procedures
  • Ensure informed knowledge of standards affecting all inspection activity is maintained and support change as required.
  • Assist the delivery/construction teams in the root cause analysis and definition of the proposed corrective actions.
  • Undertake issues/nonconformances trend analysis and provide expert reports
  • Maintain Client and subcontractor relationships.

Who we're looking for

  • Experience working on Major Mechanical Engineering projects, preferably in the nuclear or power sector
  • Able to read technical drawings
  • A confident individual, with an ability to form effective relationships with partners
  • Hold a Valid CSCS card
  • Hold valid CSWIP 3.1 certification
You also ideally will have the following qualities or experience:

  • PCN level 2 in Visual, DPI, MPT
  • Engineering related degree or a formal qualification in Quality Management
  • Extensive experience in construction and/or manufacturing within the UK Nuclear sector
