Our Outpatients team here at Basildon Hospital are looking for an experienced, friendly supportive administrator to supervise its Outpatient Reception Teams.

You will be the contact point for all administrative queries relating to the day to day running of the administration areas within the outpatient directorate,


Your role will be to supervise administrative processes of the Outpatient services, supervise the planning and prioritisation of outpatient administrative tasks and supervise team members and administrative functions in a range of outpatient settings as required.


You will need to be confident to interact with all levels of Trust Staff, Patients, Carers, Visitors, External Contractors and Emergencies Services.


Your role will involve undertaking all associated Reception Duties to facilitate the smooth running of the department and be required to demonstrate a significant level of initiative in organising their workload and may require to give direction to other reception staff whilst taking decisions and action within guidance from own supervision and managers.


You will need to be confident in dealing with confrontation and where possible defuse aggressive / volatile situations involving patients, visitors or staff in the Outpatients reception, able to manage service cover, coordinating leave and distributing workloads evenly among team members and ensure all new staff receive appropriate induction, training, and support.


You will be responsible for managing staffing issues such as sickness absence and timekeeping, providing cover for the other administration/ service support staff during busy periods, sickness and annual leave and where there is an imbalance of workload, confident in using EPR and ERS with the ability to travel between Basildon Hospital and Orsett Hospital Sites to support reception workloads.


You should have a good working knowledge of 18 weeks and what that means to the Patients and the trust and be flexible in working times of shifts of 8-4 / 9-5 to support reception staffing shortages.
