Pay: £15.40 (£30,424.61 per annum)


Hours:
Days 8:00-17:00 Monday-Thursday & Friday 08:00 - 12:00

Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor via the Weld Shop Team Leaders, the Welder/Fabricator will work from engineering drawings to weld mild steel components ranging in thickness from 2mm to 15mm.

Striving for excellence, you will work in a safe, efficient, and methodical manner ensuring that all parts are completed to the highest possible quality standards within the cycle time.

You will take great pride in the work that you produce and have a "right first-time/ no fault forward" attitude.


The Role:


  • Read, interpret, and follow engineering drawings and use jigs and fixtures to produce MIG welded components.
  • Weld components in horizontal, vertical, and overhead orientations.
  • Perform quality checks to ensure that the product is correct to the drawing and meets the required quality standards for Penetration, Porosity, Smoothness and Consistency, reporting any nonconforming parts to Team Leaders.
  • Use the correct PPE and follow safe systems of work at all times in accordance with company Health and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform daily and weekly TPM checks ensuring that any issues are raised immediately to minimise equipment downtime.
  • Ensure that the weld bay is clean and clear of hazards ensuring that any unsafe conditions/hazards are immediately reported to the Team Leaders/Supervisor.

The Person:


  • A fully qualified (apprenticeship preferred) and time served MIG welder/fabricator with a thorough understanding of welding techniques, technologies, and processes.
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace.
  • Experience in working to cycle/takt times.
  • Experience in the "yellow goods industry" or automotive industry.
  • Experienced in working at heights.
  • Experienced in the use of overhead cranes.
  • Ability and experience in operating handheld tools, sanders, and grinders.
  • A high degree of manual/physical dexterity.
  • Knowledge and experience of using oxy acetylene cutting equipment (preferred but not essential)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience of 5s and TPM checks.
