As the Financial Controls Business Partner, you will bring specialist knowledge and skills to both influence and support compliance with the MPS Financial Control Framework (FCF).

Your contribution will play a crucial role in promoting a cost-conscious culture and further securing the strong, long-term financial sustainability of our global organisation.

In this role, you will leverage your internal controls and audit expertise to drive compliance and enhance our financial control practices.

By actively influencing and supporting the implementation of the FCF, you will ensure that our financial controls are robust and aligned with industry standards.

Reporting into the Head of Group Financial Reporting & Control, you will work closely with the wider Finance team and other operational areas to ensure that our core financial processes and controls are well documented, operate effectively and reported on regularly.

As MPS colleagues are spread across the globe, we utilise technology to facilitate our activities with occasional travel to our office in London.

Our Financial Reporting team are based in Leeds and tend to be on-site at least once a week, depending on the needs of the business, but our office is open Monday to Friday.

As our new Financial Controls Business Partner, you will also:

  • Support the delivery of the Finance strategy, ensuring that finance related activities comply with the necessary regulatory and legal standards.
  • Ensure that core financial processes and key controls operate effectively, supporting the accuracy and completeness of financial reporting information.
  • Advise on the streamlining of processes and support in the documentation of controls within such processes.
  • Support the development of control testing and report on the efficacy of controls across the Group.
  • Ensure overall process documentation is complete and accurate in accordance with the FCF.
  • Partner with Process and Control Owners to support the development and maintenance of effective financial control processes and procedures.
  • Provide advice and guidance on the development of new processes and controls.

We are looking for:

Are you a finance professional with an unwavering passion for accurate reporting and compliance? Do you thrive on engaging with stakeholders and getting things done?

If you have a track record of testing controls, reviewing processes, writing reports, and strong stakeholder management, coupled with an eye for spotting areas of improvement in financial processes, we want to hear from you

If you happen to have external audit experience, consider this the cherry on top

In return, we can offer you:
Alongside a competitive salary of £47,000 - £56,000, you will also receive:

  • Up to 15% discretionary annual bonus
  • 11% pension contribution (3% from you, 8% from us optional additional matched 3% contributions, e.g. 6% from you, 11% from us)
  • 25 days annual leave plus flexible bank holidays (option to buy/sell 5 days)
  • Private Medical Cover
  • Healthcare cash plan
  • 6x salary death in service
  • A personal GP service enabling you to get a video consultation with an NHSregistered, private GP
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • A range of shopping discounts from major highstreet retailers.

About the Company
The Medical Protection Society Ltd (MPS) is the world's leading protection organisation for Doctors, Dentists and healthcare professionals. We protect and support the professional interests of almost 300,000 members around the world.

We are a not-for-profit organisation, meaning our members' subscriptions are either invested into bettering the organisation, our employees and our products, or kept safe should our members require support for complaints or claims arising from professional practice.

Our philosophy is to support safe practice in medicine and dentistry by helping to avert problems in the first place.

We also actively campaign for regulatory and legal reforms that benefit members and the wider healthcare professions.

To do this, we need colleagues who are trusted and supported to deliver their best work, whether that be through leadership development, fully-funded training courses or peer-to-peer support.

We want colleagues to feel empowered to deliver positive change, display ambition to push themselves and be determined when faced with a challenge, whilst ensuring our member's best interests are at the core.
