    Job Title: Economist

    Job Details:

    We are seeking a policy expert to lead our work on the role of public policy in shaping carbon and nature markets.

    • Mobilise the private sector in tackling climate change and contribute to restoring nature.
    • Address challenges in building high-integrity, well-functioning markets at sufficient scale.
    • E nsure that these markets support and help finance climate and nature objectives set by governments.

    This includes devising policy solutions that ensure private markets function as part of a blended finance model supporting the landscape and seascape transition required to deliver countries' Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Biodiversity Strategy Action Plans (NBSAPs).

    About the Role:

    You will collaborate with colleagues to create, implement, and influence robust policy solutions.

    • Promote a net zero, nature-positive transition in the UK and globally.
    • Reshape economic and financial sector incentives to deliver and finance the transition through advocacy on policy and regulation.
    • Stop nature loss from deforestation and champion more sustainable supply chains in the food sector.
    • Promote sustainable patterns of land use that secure benefits and food security for people while addressing climate change and halting nature loss.

    Requirements:

    • Experience of policy development.
    • Degree-level qualification in economics or relevant work experience in policy and analysis.
    • Good research abilities and experience of using economic analysis.
    • Understanding of how policy and politics interact and how policy is influenced inside and outside government.
