Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and well-motivated doctor to fill a Bank SHO post in Urology. The post is to commence as soon as possible. The post-holder will benefit from all the terms and conditions of a Senior House Officer post. The post-holder will benefit from various department and Trust wide teaching and training opportunities.

This post would suit a trainee looking for a career in Urology.

The successful applicant will learn core urological skills with a view to progressing their career through to a national training programme or alternatively, establish their training by spending a longer period of time at Kettering General Hospital.

The Urology department has expanded over the years to deliver a comprehensive service to our community.

A full range of diagnostic services are provided in the treatment centre allowing centralisation of resources to provide the required expertise for ambulatory diagnostics.

One stop clinics, local anaesthetic Transperineal prostate biopsies and circumcision lists along with intra-vesical installation for benign and cancer treatments and ESWL are available within the treatment centre.

Within the same locality, a wide range of urological surgery is undertaken in the treatment centre theatres, including general endoscopic procedures, stone surgery, bladder outflow surgery including green light laser and bipolar vaporisation devices, and upper tract surgery both laparoscopic and open.

Close to the theatre suite are the day case ward and Geddington ward for the overnight stay of patients.

Emergency care is undertaken in the main site on the adult Deene wards and Skylark ward for paediatric patients. A&E is also located within the main site of the hospital.

To fully participate in elective and emergency services

To provide highest possible levels of patient care

To work as an active member of the urology team including research and audit

To actively remain clinically competent

To work closely and participate with multidisciplinary teams

Participate in mandatory governance sessions

To teach medical students and staff

To work to all Trust Policies and procedure

Kettering General Hospital NHS Trust is an Acute District Hospital providing a service to approximately 360,000 people with 600 beds.

Since becoming a Foundation Trust in 2008, the hospital has embarked on a programme of progressive development and innovation. The most recent development being a £30 million extension to the main hospital block which opened in April 2013.
