Assist the Business Unit Safety Security & Environmental Manager in achieving their responsibilities in respect of managing health, safety and security on station.


  • To reduce Health, Safety, security & Environmental risk exposure and improve performance.
  • Supporting the field operation to introduce safe working procedures and proactive audit programs.
  • To ensure all operations remain fully compliant with all relevant industry, regulatory and country specific legislation requirements.
  • To liaise closely with operational management to assist functional management of Safety, Security & Environmental within the business.
  • To provide guidance and advice on Menzies Aviation Health, Safety, Security & Environmental policies
  • Auditing of the relevant Health Safety, Security & Environmental policies and procedures within the business unit.
  • Ensure the consistent reporting of all accidents, incidents or near misses.
  • Lead reporting and Investigation of aircraft, personal, GSE/Vehicle, property and security incidents as directed.
  • Design and deliver briefings, ensure SLS board remains current.
  • Assist in management of MORSE and SMART, satisfactory conclusion of investigations, implementation of appropriate control measures and monitoring CARs and CAPs to ensure closure.
  • Work operational shifts as required by the customer and business requirements.
  • Any other reasonable duty as requested.
Must hold appropriate nationally recognized occupational health & safety qualification e.g. IOSH level 2 qualification, or be willing to obtain them as part of the training.

  • Fully experienced and conversant with international airline Ground handling procedures, international aviation Safety, Security & Environmental procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Aviation Ground Handling
  • A good understanding of Menzies Aviation Safety, Security & Environmental policies and procedures
  • A good working knowledge of Airlines and Airport Authorities
  • Excellent leadership and people skills
  • Must be selfmotivated, disciplined, forward thinking and proactive and be able to manage time and changing priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well at all levels.
  • Flexible attitude to change.
  • Ability to drive through policies and procedures and represent the Company in a professional manner at all times.
  • Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Packages e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and
Outlook

  • Must be willing to travel to attend training courses, seminars etc.

Safety, Security and Compliance
Support corporate compliance with regulatory and industry requirements.

  • Support managers in undertaking the protective and preventative measures necessary to achieve compliance with health and safety legislation as it applies to them.
  • Coordinate the activities necessary to comply with corporate policy as it applies to them.
  • Undertake the training necessary to ensure proper understanding of their responsibilities and relevant corporate policy.
  • Participate, with their managers, in safety audits and support the process in a manner consistent with their competence.
  • Assist with the planning and management of the risk assessment programme.
  • Coordinate the administration associated with risk assessments and ensure that all significant risk assessments are properly carried out and recorded;
  • Provide proactive support to operational management to ensure they understand and work within the
Menzies risk management frame-work and promote engagement with MORSE and 'following our code' principles.

  • Review the risk assessment programme to ensure that risk assessments remain current or are reviewed whenever there is reason to believe they are no longer valid.
  • Coordinate a portable electrical equipment register, ensuring that it is updated whenever new equipment is introduced into the area and when equipment is removed or disposed of;
  • Coordinate the visual inspection of all portable electrical equipment in their area in accordance with published timescales and the recording of those inspections;
  • Encourage all users of portable electrical equipment to undertake a basic visual check of each item of equipment before it is used;
  • Ensure that a defect reporting system is in place and ensures that defective portable equipment is either quarantined or electrically isolated until it is removed for repair or is fully serviceable and safe to use
